JPH:

Hello, this is Joanna Patrice Haggerty and I am on location at the 2023 Holiday Pop-Up Market at the Asheville Mall, sponsored by WWBC and bizradious. We have 50 local women-owned entrepreneurs here selling their goods and getting their names out there. Joining me now is Rachel Horn of Sandy Mush Smokin Co and Heart Found Botanicals. Rachel, thanks for coming out today. Thanks for having me Tell us about your booth and the products and what you serve for people.

Rachel :

So we have three types of mulling spices. The first one is your old-fashioned kind of original mulling spice with orange peel and cinnamon and allspice. And then we take that and we spicy pepper and pecao nibs and we make a Oaxacan old-fashioned and we also add more spice and ginger to make a spicy Moscow Mule. Wow, so we have three different flavors of that and then we put them in reusable tea ball strainers and they hang like an ornament. Oh, how fun. So it's a fun gift when you go over to somebody's house. Then we have cooking spices and then in Heart Found Botanicals. We do a line of CBD products, sabs and weed my lips chapstick.

JPH:

Wow, what a unique and dynamic business that play together. Can you tell me a little bit about the story and the inspiration that brought you to these businesses?

Rachel :

Yes, of course. So I met my husband five years ago, I think, and he was making CBD, processing hemp and turning it into CBD. And I've been a massage therapist for 16 years Wow, and I've used CBD in my practice and saw how powerful it was and we were able to combine and make my dream product that I use every day in my practice and I get to see the effects of it on all of my clients, so powerful.

Rachel :

And for our wedding. That was our wedding gift to everybody was our first batch of CBD sabs.

JPH:

Oh my gosh, I have goosebumps. What a beautiful entrepreneurial story. And that's a lot of times how it goes right You're inspired, you're passionate, and then there's a need and you help fill it.

Rachel :

Yes.

JPH:

Tell us a little bit about some of the products that people find Like what are the things that go into the stuff that make it so powerful and good for you?

Rachel :

Shea butter and beeswax. Our chapstick doesn't melt in your pocket.

JPH:

Yes, I need that kind.

Rachel :

And if you ever get fever blister, I mean cold sores I've never had one since, wow, and I had them coming on. I've put on the chapstick and it goes away. And I've tried everything, all of the prescription products and everything that you can get at the drugstore. That is amazing, and I've never had one since I've been using this chapstick. Wow.

JPH:

So Well, can you tell us who inspires you and, again, what is this inspiration for this healing that you're clearly bringing to the world?

Rachel :

Well, I think, to be able to give to people and provide a service that helps them. Like in my massage practice, I want people to be able to do what they love, and so to be able to provide a product that also helps that and helps people live pain-free, is it just? It gives to me and fills my heart. I love that so much.

JPH:

I feel lucky every day that I get to do this and it's so powerful, like you said, to combine a service and this product. And that is really the beauty of small business, right? Is it doesn't have to just be a physical thing, right? Yeah, well, tell us a little bit more about what are some of the main goals that you have with your business.

Rachel :

Well, I would love to do more regular, I think, markets we do them in the farmers markets and we do them in the winter time because we have the hot cider and so I think doing more year long. Right now our business is more seasonal around the holidays because of the hot cider Right, but I think somehow kind of bringing it full circle in that way and expanding. We're in a couple of stores right now but I want to do expand and be in a few more around town.

JPH:

I love that. Well, that was going to be. My next question is how can people work with you and get your products and services? So what are some of the stores or how can they visit online for you?

Rachel :

Yeah, so we have our website is heartboundbotanicalscom, and we are in Grateful Roots, which is kind of North Asheville right now, but hope to be in provisions. We're a little, we're in there some, but hope to expand the stores that we're in. I love that. I am always happy Somebody who lives in the Asheville area I'm happy to come and bring you. If you place an order, I will deliver it to you.

JPH:

Home door deliveries. You cannot knock that, guys. And who doesn't need a spiced mold ornament? You know what I'm saying Rachel thank you so much for being here. We're really happy to support you and other local businesses today. Thanks for having me and thanks for being here too Absolutely, and thanks for listening.
